Clicker training
Definition
Clicker training uses a consistent sound marker paired with rewards to communicate precise moments of correct behavior, speeding learning for many species.
Extended explanation
Charge the clicker first by clicking then treating until the sound predicts food. Then click during the exact behavior you want, followed immediately by reward. The click bridges the gap when treats cannot arrive instantly.
Birds, cats, and dogs all benefit when sessions stay short and criteria rise gradually. Replace the clicker with verbal markers if sound sensitivity appears.
